Your home is as important to us as it is to you when making severe changes such as an extension. We realise that we will be working on the biggest investment of your life and, as such, we make sure the contract runs smoothly and on time.
A favourite extension seems to be making the kitchen larger by adding an extra room to the existing and then 'knocking' throug. This creates a new kitchen - twice the size of the original in many cases.
The pictures on the right show the conservatory joining the new extended kitchen room. You can just see the base walls to the right of the extension.
All walls are 300mm thick, 100mm outer leaf ,50mm cavity, 50mm Celotex insulation then a 100mm inner leaf constructed using thermalite blocks. The inside was dry-lined/plastered, floors/ceiling insulated using 100mm Celotex.
We installed a 4.4m Universal Beam @ 203mm x 102mm above the existing kitchen window inside the extension. This was inspected and passed by our building inspecter.
The hole could then be created in the existing wall the following day which created a very large and light kitchen.
Kitchen installation is underway; then we will tile the floor.
Existing kitchen was 2.7m x 4.2m. With the extension it is 5.7m x 5.4m and overall a lot more practical and spacious.
